The second graders in Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Reese's class had a marvelous time sharing their informational all about books with their fourth grade publishing buddies in Mrs. Hugghins' fourth grade class. Each writer had the opportunity to share their amazing facts and information about their topics. These young writers were so excited to share their work with other writers!
Here at Spring Creek, our writing partnerships are off to a great start! Each classroom is partnered with another grade level classroom to provide an authentic audience for young writers. The students in Mrs. Bradham's first grade class had so much sharing their stories with the students in Ms. Knowles' and Mr. Capp's class. Mrs. Reese's second graders had a blast sharing their personal narratives with Mrs. Bradham's and Mrs. Moore's first grade classes as well.
We even have scientific writers working on writing pieces! Mrs. Mann's fourth grade classes enjoyed a day of recording their observations in their science notebooks during lab. They even expanded on the concepts they learned by writing personal narratives with amazing story hooks and scientific language. Writing is fun in all our subjects!
As we end another school year, we look forward to all the learning ahead of us! These young writers in Mrs. Bradham's First grade class are already helping prepare the Kindergarten students in Mrs. Rogers class for next year. The First graders shared the letters that they wrote to inform the Kindergarten students of all the learning adventures ahead of them as future First grade cardinals here at Spring Creek Elementary!
Here at Spring Creek Elementary, writers are still going strong! Mrs. Dungan's fourth graders recently shared their book projects with Mrs. Penick's second graders. The students enjoyed sharing their work with other young authors. Publishing for real audiences is great fun!
The fourth grade scientists in Mrs. Mann's classes wrote picture books to share all they know about science vocabulary words that they have been studying. The students chose their own science topics to feature in their books. Each student designed, drafted, and revised/edited their picture book. After publishing their stories, they read them to a younger audience. Writing is fun in Science!
'Tis the season for sharing good books with friends! These young authors have been working hard on all sorts of books to share with their writing buddies. Some of our SC kindergartners and first graders enjoyed reading their picture books to the third graders. The second graders in Mrs. Penick's class paired up with the fourth graders in Mrs. Dungan's class to share their writing pieces. All students shared in the joy of reading their published books to a friend!
Meanwhile, Mrs. Jacobson's second graders, spent some time reading books with flashlights by the fireside. It looks like a cozy celebration of reading!
Mrs. Clark's kindergartners had fun sharing their newly written pattern books with Mrs. Barrett's third grade class. When student authors have the opportunity to publish and share, their energy for the next project is heightened. These writers have so much to say!
The kindergartners in Mrs. Tipton's and Mrs. Anderson's class enjoyed reading with Mrs. Jacobson's and Ms. McGehee's second graders. They took turns reading books by published authors as well as books they had published themselves as authors. Celebrating readers and writers is so much fun!
Mrs. Bradham's first graders met with Mrs. Rogers' kindergartners to celebrate the publication of their fall pattern books. These young writers also acted out and retold the story of The Ant and the Grasshopper. Storytelling is a great way to invite young writers to orally rehearse their stories as a precursor to writing.
Our writing partnerships at Spring Creek for the 2017 school year have begun! Each year, classrooms across our campus are paired up so that our authors are able to share their published pieces with an audience. Publication is truly valued here at Spring Creek, and we want to honor and celebrate our writers.
Mrs. Moore's first grade class and Mrs. Richards' third grade class have just finished their first published piece, so they have decided to read and share with their writing buddies. Thanks to these magnificent authors for kicking off our writing partnerships this year!
